Why give sadaqa?

Giving takes nothing from you — it multiplies your reward, purifies your wealth, and is a duty we owe to those in need. Browse real causes above — a sick relative's treatment, a mosque under construction, a water well for a village, or families going hungry — and send your donation straight to them.

The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies His reward for whom He wills.

HadithSahih Muslim 2588
Never will you attain the good reward until you spend in the way of Allah from that which you love.
Qur'an3:92
Every day two angels come down from heaven and one of them says, 'O Allah! Compensate every person who spends in Your cause,' and the other says, 'O Allah! Destroy every miser.'
HadithSahih al-Bukhari 1442
When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah), knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him.
HadithSahih Muslim 1631
And establish prayer and give zakah, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves — you will find it with Allah. Indeed, Allah of what you do is Seeing.
Qur'an2:110
